HAVANA (AP) — Cuban state television aired a series of photos Tuesday evening showing a convalescing Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez meeting with Fidel Castro two weeks after undergoing urgent surgery on the island. The nightly newscast said the encounter took place in the morning and the two longtime friends "reminisced about the past" in the company of family members. Chavez seemed healthy and animated as he talked and smiled alongside Castro in what appeared to be the patio and living room of a house. Both leaders wore track suits, as they did in other pictures taken June 17. tiffany necklace
Between the still photos, state TV briefly aired some live video of Chavez as well. Cuban television did not say when Chavez might return to Venezuela. The normally loquacious Venezuelan president underwent surgery in Cuba two weeks ago and has been unusually quiet since then. Officials said it was for a pelvic abscess, an accumulation of pus that can have various causes, including infection or surgical complications.
Chavez's silence and seclusion since then spurred growing speculation in Venezuela and elsewhere that he might be seriously ill, but allies of the leftist leader inisisted he was firmly in control of the country and recovering from the operation. An outbreak of salmonella poisoning in salad sprouts has sickened 21 people in the United States but is not connected to the German E. coli outbreak, health authorities said Tuesday. tiffany outlet
The illnesses arose between April 12 and June 7 and so far have spanned five states. Three people have been hospitalized and no deaths have been reported, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said in a statement. "A total of 21 persons with the outbreak strain of Salmonella Enteritidis have been reported from five states: Idaho (three), Montana (seven), North Dakota (one), New Jersey (one) and Washington (nine)," the CDC said. The salmonella is believed to originate in alfalfa sprouts and spicy sprouts. tiffany men's necklace
An outbreak of killer E. coli blamed on organic vegetable sprouts grown in northern Germany, has killed 48 people and sickened 3,900, German health authorities have said. All the fatalities were in Germany, except for a woman in Sweden who died after being infected in Germany. One death in the US state of Arizona by a person who had traveled to Germany is under investigation, but has not been confirmed as linked to the German outbreak, the CDC said last week. tiffany necklace silver
Lennar 2Q profit falls but tops Wall St. forecast LOS ANGELES – Lennar Corp. rendered its verdict on the spring home-selling season on Thursday, saying an expected sales rally in what is traditionally the peak period for home sales simply didn't happen. The homebuilder's fiscal second-quarter home deliveries fell 8 percent from a year ago, while new home orders were flat. Its profit fell 65 percent against prior-year results that were buoyed by a big tax benefit. tiffany rings
The sales declines were not as bad as Wall Street had anticipated and less severe than what several other large builders have reported of late, but do little to counter the fact that housing has gotten off to a disappointing track this year. On Thursday, the Commerce Department reported that sales of new homes in the U.S. fell 2.1 percent in May to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 319,000 homes — well below the 700,000 homes a year that economists say must be sold to sustain a healthy housing market. tiffany earrings
The National Association of Home Builders, the industry's trade association, now projects sales of new homes will be down this year versus 2010, when sales sank to the lowest level on records going back nearly 50 years. Still, Lennar CEO Stuart Miller said that while the spring home-selling season "simply did not materialize, it is beginning to feel like the worst days of the housing market are getting behind us." The executive noted that customer traffic has continued to improve and that, in almost all of its divisions, there are strong pockets of activity. Even so, Miller cautioned that a housing recovery isn't around the corner. tiffany bracelet
"Make no mistake, stabilization and recovery will continue to be a slow and rocky process as traffic and desire have not yet translated into strong actual sales," Miller said. "These are, though, the first signs that repair of the market is upon us." The lackluster sales trends didn't keep Lennar from turning a profit for the fifth consecutive quarter. Miller said he's confident the company is well-positioned for 2011 to be a profitable year. Lennar's shares added 27 cents, or 1.5 percent, to $18.37 in afternoon trading. tiffany necklace
Homebuilders got an assist last year from federal tax credits that spurred sales industry wide through the end of April of 2010, when the government incentive expired. The tax credits pulled demand forward, and sales tanked for much of the rest of the year. This year, encouraged by improved U.S. job numbers this spring, homebuilders expected to see a more traditional sales burst. But while traffic has been up, it hasn't necessarily translated into sales as in previous years. tiffany necklace silver
Potential buyers are plagued by high unemployment, strict lending standards and fears that home prices will plunge again. How the new-home market fares is a key factor in the health of the U.S. economy, because each new home creates, on average, the equivalent of three jobs for a year and generates about $90,000 in taxes paid to local and federal authorities, by some estimates. tiffany men's necklace
Lennar, which is based in Miami, said it earned $13.8 million, or 7 cents per share, for the three months ended May 31. That compares with $39.7 million, or 21 cents per share, a year ago. The prior-year period included an income tax benefit of $11 million, or 6 cents per share. Analysts expected earnings of 4 cents per share, according to analysts surveyed by FactSet. Lennar's revenue fell 6 percent to $764.5 million from $814.5 million. That still topped Wall Street's $644 million forecast.
tiffany necklace white gold The company's Rialto Investments unit, which buys distressed real estate investments, saw its operating earnings climb to $9.8 million from $5.1 million. Home deliveries slipped to 2,682 homes, while new orders totaled 3,204 homes. Analysts, on average, had expected Lennar to report a 2.8 percent decline in new home orders for the quarter and a drop of 19.3 percent in delivered homes, according to FactSet.
tiffany charms Lennar's backlog dipped 1 percent to 2,470 homes. During the quarter, the average sales price of homes delivered rose 2 percent to $245,000 from $240,000 as sales incentives offered to homebuyers increased. Lennar builds homes in 17 states and is one of the nation's largest builders of senior housing communities. tiffany pendants
Pandora NecklaceSpecial Police Robbery unit targets Curtin University attacks A DEDICATED detective unit is trying to combat a surge in robberies in the Kensington area in recent months, particularly against young students from Curtin University. Police have today revealed that the 10 person dedicated unit has been running since the start of May. During that time about 75 robberies have been carried out in the Cannington, Belmont and Bentley areas, resulting in about 40 arrests.

Overnight, a Korean tourist was robbed at knifepoint in Bentley. It follows a spate of armed robberies near Curtin University in recent weeks. Officer in charge of Kensington Detectives Detective Senior Sergeant Chris Adams said in most cases Asian students had been the victims of the robberies.

Many of those who were being targeted however were “unaware of their surroundings” because they were listening to music on their phones and I-Pods before being robbed.

Former undercover cop says his lies sent people to prison A former undercover police officer has confessed his lies in court more than 30 years ago may have sent 150 people wrongfully to prison. Police said they had started a criminal investigation into the activities of Patrick O'Brien after he wrote to Chief Justice Dame Sian Elias and former Police Commissioner Howard Broad, saying he was racked with guilt after carrying a "dreadful secret" for more than 30 years.
cheap tiffanyMr O'Brien, an undercover officer during drugs operations in the 1970s, was the star witness in court trials but he later confessed he lied on oath every time he testified, the New Zealand Herald reported today. His confession was made in November 2007 and police hired Wellington lawyer Bruce Squire, QC, to investigate. He interviewed Mr O'Brien in July 2009 and reviewed court files, and a copy of his completed inquiry was now with police.
cheap tiffany and coDetective Inspector Bruce Scott, of Waitemata CIB, emailed Mr O'Brien last week asking if there was any other information he had which "may assist me in determining any criminal liability, or are there other persons that you consider need to be spoken to that could assist an inquiry relating to these matters"? Mr O'Brien told the newspaper he would co-operate fully with the inquiry and plead guilty to any charges. tiffany uk
In his confession, he said he could not guess the number of people who were sent to prison because of his lies because he stopped counting arrests at 150, half-way through his three-year undercover stint. He lied to the courts and juries to get convictions in every case, he said. As well, he was often high on drugs, including cannabis, cocaine, heroin and LSD -- but never during trials. cheap tiffany and co jewelry
Tampering with evidence was common and exhibits before the court were often not the drugs he had bought from the target. However, the shame and stress of the work broke him and he resigned and fled New Zealand, "haunted, traumatised and scared". His life had since been a tragic waste and he had never lost the demons that "rush around in my head." Mr O'Brien was an undercover police officer from 1974 to 1977. tiffany uk shop
tiffany & co outletJeffersonville High School students get nursing certificates Jeffersonville High School graduated its first class of Certified Nursing Assistants on Thursday. In its first year, the partnership between the high school and Norton Healthcare trained 11 juniors and seniors, nine of whom already have passed the state licensing exam that will allow them to work in the field. tiffany and co outlet
Two more will take the exam Friday. Brittany Lewis, 17, a graduate of the class, said that now “I'm a CNA like my mother.” Brittany, who will be a senior at Jeffersonville High School this fall, said she is pleased she has been able to get her CNA certificate free of charge while still in high school. “I'm proud of her,” said Rochelle Hardin, Brittany's mother. She also appreciates her daughter having the opportunity to get her CNA certificate while in high school. Kim Tharp-Barrie, a vice president of the Norton Healthcare Institute for Nursing and Workforce Development, who taught the Jeffersonville High School program, said she is thrilled with the results of the first year.
tiffany jewelry outletSeveral students have been admitted to universities to continue their medical training, some with scholarships from the Norton Health Care Foundation. Tharp-Barrie said she believes the program, which is receiving $25,000 a year for three years from the Norton Healthcare Foundation, willhelp meet the need for nurses and other medical professionals. Experts are predicting that 600,000 more nurses will be need in the United States by 2016 as the population ages, Tharp-Barrie said. Jeffersonville High principal Jim Sexton said 40 students have signed up for the CNA program for next year. tiffany outlet
While such training is available from the Prosser School of Technology, which provides vocational courses for the region's students, Sexton said many students prefer taking such a class at their own high school. He said he also is excited about the possibilities the Norton partnership could open for his students. Brittany said she got interested in nursing after seeing her mother work as a nursing assistant and after helping to take care of her 82-year-old great-grandmother. She said she loved the class, which provided classroom and simulated clinical training. tiffany rings
The students took the CNA class for the last two periods of their school days, sometimes traveling to other sites for training, Brittany said. It sometimes was difficult to manage the course while maintaining other, traditional classes, but it was worth the effort, she said. She's looking for work as a nursing assistant this summer, but many employers require their CNAs to be at least 18, Brittany said. If she can't work in the field this summer, she's confident she will find a job in December. She earned five college credits through the CNA course, and ultimately, she hopes to become a pediatrician. tiffany earrings
Pandora Charms BraceletsIndonesia to stop sending maids to Saudi over beheading AFP JAKARTA (AFP) – Indonesia will suspend sending domestic helpers to Saudi Arabia after the beheading of a maid convicted of murdering her Saudi employer, a minister said on Wednesday. "The Indonesian government has decided to impose a moratorium on sending workers to Saudi Arabia," Labour Minister Muhaimin Iskandar was quoted by state news agency Antara as saying. The report did not provide further details but local media indicated the move was aimed at domestic workers, who make up about 70 percent of the 1.2 million Indonesian workers in the Gulf state.
Cheap Pandora JewelryThe suspension will take effect on August 1 and will remain until the Saudi government agrees to sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to protect Indonesian workers' rights, Iskandar said. Parliament on Tuesday urged the government to stop sending workers overseas without agreements to guarantee their rights, while key members of President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono's cabinet have been forced to quit over the persistent abuse of Indonesian migrant workers abroad. Saudi Arabia apologised earlier Wednesday for failing to inform Indonesia of the Saturday beheading with a sword of migrant worker Ruyati binti Sapubi, 54, while Jakarta formally protested to Riyadh over the execution. Saudi Ambassador Abdurrahman bin Mohammed Al-Khayyat conveyed his country's apologies during a meeting with Indonesia's Foreign Minister Marty Natalegawa, at which Natalegawa submitted a letter of protest to his Saudi counterpart. "The ambassador apologised and regretted the situation and said that such a thing wouldn't happen again in future," foreign ministry spokesman Michael Tene said. Indonesia recalled its ambassador to Riyadh earlier this week for consultations. Migrant worker Ruyati binti Sapubi, 54, was executed on Saturday after she was convicted of murdering her Saudi employer, Khairiya bint Hamid Mijlid, with a meat cleaver. The maid carried out the killing after she was denied permission to leave the kingdom and return to her family in Indonesia, according to officials in Jakarta. Pandora Jewelry
In a second case, a court in the Saudi capital Riyadh had sentenced Indonesian maid Darsem to death for murdering her Yemeni employer in December 2007 in what she called an act of self-defence as the employer had tried to rape her. Indonesian officials had said she could escape the sentence if she received pardon from the family, who forgave her in January on the condition that she pays the compensation or "diyat" of two million riyals ($533,000). The Indonesian government will pay the compensation ahead of July's deadline, Tene said. "The full amount has been transferred to the Indonesian embassy in Riyadh and a team from the Foreign Ministry will be flying there tonight to oversee the payment process. We hope her life will be spared," he said. The women's cases are the latest in a string of incidents involving Indonesian menial labourers in the Middle East. Human rights groups say workers from countries such as Indonesia, India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka underpin the Gulf states' economies but face extreme forms of exploitation. Pandora Charms
